Legacy CPA Data Breach Lawsuit Investigation

Maxey Law Firm is investigating Legacy CPA, which recently sent notice of a data breach to impacted individuals.

Legacy CPA reported that the data breach may have impacted 2,560 individuals.

For each of these individuals, the information involved may have included their name, Social Security number (or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number or ITIN), and other information contained in their tax return(s) or in documents that were provided to Legacy CPA, including for tax return preparation, such as government-issued identification number, financial account information, and/or date of birth.

It is unclear whether or not the Social Security numbers were encrypted and, if not, why they were not encrypted.
